Airports in Bahrain: Major Airports and Flight Information

Bahrain, officially the Kingdom of Bahrain, is an archipelago of more than 30 islands in the Persian Gulf. With a land area of only about 780 square kilometers, it is the smallest country in the region, yet it stands out for its rich cultural diversity and openness. The capital, Manama, is known for its tolerant atmosphere and its role as a major financial center in the Middle East.

Unlike many of its neighbors, Bahrain looks back on a history spanning over 5,000 years. It was once the center of the ancient Dilmun civilization, which served as an important trading post between Mesopotamia and the Indus Valley. The burial mounds of Dilmun, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, still bear witness to this glorious past. Bahrain was also the first country in the Gulf where oil was discovered in 1932, which paved the way for an early start to modernization.

Bahrain is considered one of the most liberal countries in the Gulf, a fact reflected in its vibrant café culture and diverse nightlife. Bahrain International Airport (BAH) on the island of Muharraq has recently undergone extensive modernization and offers travelers highly efficient and comfortable access to this charming island nation.
