Airports in Luxembourg: Major Airports and Flight Information

✈️ Luxembourg

Luxembourg, officially the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, is one of the smallest countries in the world, yet it holds an impressive place on the European stage. With an area of approximately 2,586 square kilometers, it is nestled between Germany, France, and Belgium. The country is not only a major financial center and one of the three official seats of the European Union, but also the world’s only remaining grand duchy. The capital, Luxembourg City, is spectacularly perched on rugged sandstone cliffs overlooking the deep valleys of the Alzette and Petrusse rivers.

Luxembourg’s history has been shaped by its strategic location. The city was once one of Europe’s strongest fortresses, the “Gibraltar of the North,” whose ruins are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After an eventful history under Burgundian, Spanish, French, and Prussian rule, Luxembourg consolidated its independence and became one of the founding members of the EU. Today, the country is a melting pot of cultures: nearly half of its residents are foreign nationals, creating a unique, multilingual atmosphere.

The quality of life in Luxembourg is extremely high, which is also reflected in its excellent infrastructure—Luxembourg is the first country in the world to have made public transportation free nationwide. Luxembourg-Findel Airport (LUX) is the country’s only international airport. It is not only a modern and efficient passenger airport but, thanks to Cargolux’s home base there, is also one of Europe’s most important cargo hubs. Luxembourg is the perfect destination for travelers seeking a blend of European history, multicultural flair, and unspoiled nature.
