✈️ Geneva✈️ St. Gallen✈️ Zurich

Switzerland is a fascinating country in Central Europe, known for its impressive Alpine landscapes, its political neutrality, and its cultural diversity. As a landlocked country, it borders Germany, France, Italy, Austria, and Liechtenstein. About 60% of the country is dominated by the Alps, making Switzerland a popular destination for hikers, skiers, and nature lovers. The highest mountain is the Dufourspitze at 4,634 meters, while Lake Geneva, Lake Lucerne, and Lake Zurich are among the best-known bodies of water.

Politically, Switzerland is a direct democracy in which citizens can regularly vote on laws. It has a federal structure and consists of 26 cantons, each of which enjoys a high degree of autonomy. Although it is often referred to as the capital, Switzerland officially has no capital—Bern is merely the seat of government. Switzerland is also known for its neutrality and does not belong to any military alliance, which has earned it, among other things, the status of host to numerous international organizations such as the Red Cross and various UN agencies.

Culturally, Switzerland is also extremely diverse. There are four official national languages: German, French, Italian, and Romansh. This diversity is also reflected in the country’s traditions and culinary specialties, ranging from raclette and fondue to world-famous Swiss chocolate. Furthermore, Switzerland is a major financial center, with cities like Zurich and Geneva playing a central role as international banking and business hubs. Despite its relatively small size, Switzerland ranks among the wealthiest countries in the world and enjoys a high quality of life.
