Airports in Tunisia: Major Airports and Flight Information

✈️ Djerba✈️ Enfidha✈️ Monastir✈️ Sfax✈️ Tozeur✈️ Tunis

Tunisia has a well-developed airport infrastructure that efficiently connects the country for both business travelers and international tourism. Tunis-Carthage International Airport (TUN) plays a central role as the country’s most important hub. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the capital, Tunis, and serves as the primary gateway for scheduled flights from around the world, as well as the home base for the national airline, Tunisair. Due to its strategic importance, it is the most important hub for business travel as well as for travelers wishing to visit the northern regions of the country or the historic site of Carthage.

Two airports in particular play a crucial role in mass tourism on the east coast: Enfidha-Hammamet Airport (NBE) and Monastir Habib Bourguiba Airport (MIR). Enfidha-Hammamet was designed as a modern airport to handle the high volume of charter flights from across Europe and offers quick access to the popular beach resorts of Hammamet and Sousse. Monastir, on the other hand, is a historic location closely linked to the development of tourism in the region and brings travelers directly to the centers of Monastir, Mahdia, and Sousse. Both airports are optimally geared toward seasonal fluctuations in tourism and ensure a smooth arrival for vacationers.

Djerba-Zarzis Airport (DJE) on the island of Djerba serves as the essential gateway to the southern part of the country. It not only serves the island itself, which is known for its beaches and cultural diversity, but is also the ideal starting point for travelers wishing to explore the desert regions and traditional Berber villages in the hinterland. This network is complemented by Sfax-Thyna Airport (SFA), which is particularly important for business travelers to Tunisia’s second-largest city, as well as other regional airports such as Tozeur, which provide access to specific tourist regions in the interior. In summary, the Tunisian airport system is structured to seamlessly connect the urban economic hub in the north, the coastal tourist regions, and the desert landscape in the south.
